Welcome to Turku PET Symposium in June 2022!
Turku PET Centre, part of the Finnish Biomedical Imaging Node, is organizing Turku PET Symposium, which will be held onsite in Turku, Finland, in June 3–6, 2022. The Symposium is targeted to all investigators and staff working with cyclotrons, PET radiochemistry, modelling and software development, as well as preclinical and clinical PET imaging. The attendance should be particularly useful to those who are new to the field, or want to broaden their understanding of the rapidly developing research and clinical applications of PET. The first Turku PET Symposium was organised already in 1977, so this meeting has a tradition of over 40 years. The program covers the whole field from cyclotrons and radiochemistry, to preclinical and clinical applications of PET together with multimodality imaging. New generation full body PET scanner to Turku PET Centre – a world of new opportunities
Turku PET Centre has been awarded 5 million € support from Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation for the purchase of the latest generation full body PET/CT scanner. The new scanner is able to scan the whole body at one go instead of 20-25 cm slices like the traditional PET scanners. This is a transformative advantage because it makes it possible to examine what is happening simultaneously in brain, heart, liver, and other organs in the abdomen. For biomedical research, it opens up completely new horizons in understanding the interactions between different body parts and how the human body functions as a whole. Euro-BioImaging ERIC extends a warm welcome to its new Nodes!
We are very pleased to announce that the Euro-BioImaging family is growing! In 2020, we welcome four new Nodes hosted by Austria, Finland, Sweden, and Portugal. These include two Biological, one Biomedical and one Mixed Node. Four existing Nodes were also granted upgrades, bringing on board new facilities and expanding their technology portfolio. A cutting-edge infrastructure These renowned imaging facilities have undergone a stringent, independent review process by the Euro-BioImaging Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) that ensures that only the most advanced imaging facilities with a cutting-edge and diverse technology offer become Euro-BioImaging Nodes. As part of the Euro-BioImaging research infrastructure, the services provided by these facilities will be open to all scientists, regardless of their discipline or affiliation.
